Why is it important ?
We are all faced daily with our own perceptions and mis perceptions of people, and events in our own lives and the wider world . These alter how we act and respond to situations.
Inclusivity and diversity training supports people in valuing everyone’s differences and supports practitioners in providing services with equal access and fairness.
As Family mediators we probably need to be more aware of our own bias and how to manage them as we work with our couples and families to ensure they do not have a negative impact on our work with them. .
The aim of the course is to increase your awareness of our own bias to enable you to acknowledge them , manage them and not allow them to impact on your work , and if they do how to manage those situations.
Topics to include;
Unconscious bias what is it and what influence does it have on us.
Acknowledging your own unconscious bias
Understanding different communication styles when working with clients.
Cultural awareness
Equity in signposting to external services.
