The Family Mediators Association, established in 1988, is a membership organization for family mediators representing over 350 family mediators. FMA is a lead body and founding member of the Family Mediation Council (FMC), which co-ordinates regulation of and develops common standards for professional family mediators.
Our members offer the public:

public funding (free Legal Aid) where appropriate;
training, consultancy and leadership in the development of family mediation.
We offer the public:
support finding skilled family mediators in England and Wales;
the development and enforcement of high professional standards, applied to all FMA members;
education about mediation, together with promotion of the values and practice of mediation as an effective dispute resolution process.
We offer our members:
support in their provision of high quality professional family mediation services;
leadership in providing and enforcing clear guidelines and standards for professional family mediators;
training for family mediators from a range of occupational backgrounds, to enable them to mediate children, finance and other family issues competently and sensitively with anyone facing relationship breakdown.
