FMA Board Changes

The FMA held their most recent board meeting on the 6th of October 2025, and the following appointments were made:

Anna Vollans continues in her role as chair, but thanks to the recent majority vote from our members on the Article changes, we now have a new co-chair position filled by Sally Clark.

Our newest appointments include Claire Webb as vice-chair, and Rebekah Gershuny as secretary.

Philippa Johnson continues in her position as treasurer.

Neil Robinson and Beverley Sayers are also continuing in their Board roles for another term.

Finally, we would like to welcome Thomas Brownrigg as our newest board member. Thomas is an accredited mediator, collaborative lawyer, and family solicitor. He specialises in dealing with issues arising from family separations, children matters and domestic abuse cases.

Child Inclusive Mediation Foundation Training

We were delighted to deliver Child Inclusive Mediation (CIM) Foundation Training to a committed group of mediators eager to develop their skills in this important area of practice. The training focused on the knowledge, principles and practical skills required to meet FMC standards for Child Inclusive Mediation, and to enable children and young people to share their views safely and meaningfully within the mediation process.

At FMA, we’re deeply committed to supporting mediators to work confidently and ethically with children and young people, ensuring that their voices are heard when decisions are being made that affect them.

If you’re interested in undertaking this training, please keep an eye out for next year’s dates, which will be announced soon.

FMC 10th Anniversary Conference

The Family Mediation Council’s 10th Anniversary Conference was a fantastic event, bringing together practitioners from across the mediation field to share insights, expertise, and innovation. The day began with our own Beverley Sayers introducing three inspirational speakers on the current “State of Mediation”. The official report of ‘The State of Family Mediation 2025‘ is available now on the FMC website. The day was packed with though-provoking panel discussions, and interactive workshops that highlighted the importance of mediation in supporting families.

The attendees praised not only the high calibre of content but also the warm, collaborative atmosphere that encourages open dialogue and networking. The conference emphasised the Council’s commitment to advancing best practice, raising standards, and ensuring families have access to constructive, compassionate support. It was an enjoyable day for all that left me inspired, better connected, and motivated to continue driving positive change in the field of family mediation.

PPC Forum

We’re pleased to invite you to the FMA Professional Practice Consultant (PPC) Forum, which will take place online on Monday 24th November between 12.30 and 1.45pm.

We know that PPCs play a vital role in supporting mediators in practice. The forum will provide a dedicated space for PPCs to:

  • Share experiences and discuss challenges in their supervisory role.
  • Reflect on new requirements and good practice.
  • Build confidence and consistency in how they support mediators.
  • Contribute to shaping the future of professional practice within family mediation.

Our first session will focus on the new PPC requirements introduced by the Family Mediation Standards Board (FMSB). Together, we’ll explore what these changes mean in practice and how we can best support mediators and one another in meeting them.

The forum will also act as a platform for PPCs to identify and shape future areas of discussion.

This forum is only available to FMA members. If you are a PPC and would like to join this session, an email with details on how to register will be sent to all FMA members, so please check your inbox. Once you have registered, you will receive joining instructions.
